Hand-made Rose Brooch

I am inspired at present by the coming of spring, my daughter was sooo happy to see the return of butterflies to the garden yesterday ...me too...
And what better way to celebrate spring, then with flowers...and a fabric flower will last so long, and have better chi than dried flowers (? a thought to ponder)... anyway, by way of introduction here it is the 'Rose Brooch' ...I can feel some more coming on : -)
An Easy-wear Skirt made out of the same fabric (Cho Cho San Pomichi) has recently gone to a very good home and I thought I would whip up a pretty fabric flower in the same fabric to match for a bit of fun..its such an lovely fabric...definately a fave and appeals to my love of 'vintage like' things...
This brooch can be used quite a few ways as an accessory, pinned to a headband, to a handbag, worn as a brooch...pinned to a belt...Can you add to this list, I would love to hear any more ideas...

Organic Fabrics Just Arrived

I just received a happy little parcel of 100% certified organic fabric from Organic Fabric Online http://www.organicfabriconline.com.au/ . The fabrics are produced without the use of pesticides / herbicides artificial fertilisers either in the growing of the cotton, the dyeing process of the fabrics or the production phase. This is an Australia site too so we can support Australian Made.

So for those that like their kids in 'pure' cotton its a great choice! and its a great choice for the health of our creeks, rivers, plants & animals : - ) (& I am a nature nut - just love plants & animals - but thats another story - or another post...). A big congratulations to OFO for making such a lovely range available online...The choice of colours is pretty good and the fabric is so very soft. I am really looking forward to working with it. Oh, I was also able to get some organic cotton thread too which will allow me to make the entire piece 100% organic.

I am whipping up (well I was until my littlest came down with a high temp - has anyone else had sooo many cold and flu's one after the other this winter?) a couple of little skirts as we speak to go to the Gecoz for them to consider adding to their organic range of wares. You can see their website GECOZ: Ecologically Sustainable Living - Organic Clothing, Organic Cotton and Ecologically Sustainable Products http://www.gecoz.net.au/.

The word on the fabrics from my three year old?
"I love them all mummy" and she is a tuff customer ; - )...The one at the right is going to make a really sweet little skirt.

Handmade Fabric Flower accessories

Spring is in the air and these bright little accessories will help welcome spring in a few weeks. I have been busy making these pretty gingham & fabric flowers for little girls (and ladies). They look sweet matched with some of the gingham skirts I make, or just as a lovely accessory to embellish the outfit. The big brooch for littlies is a favourite too. The brooches also look really sweet pinned onto bags, cardigans, dresses, scarves...hats...Mums can use them as well as littlies and we share them in our family. Its a bit of fun really.
