My Creative Space today...So, I started...

The first step my first 'painting'...as a 'grown-up'... the concept from within - self expression...

The second step...how do I draw these things... Practising...shapes, colours, drawing...

The third step...paint on paper...colour (bright & beautiful) guided from within...fun

My painting partner tries acrylics for the first time... wow... 'The girl come's to life'...

Next...a spot of fresh flower arranging to inspire my stitching space...cream Camellia's...mmmm

A skirt to work together...on it's way to Hong Kong - exciting...fun...

Collaging with fabric flowers & fine motor skill development...whilst I stitch...

And time also for a spot of ballon art with my Jnr companion - filled with food colouring,

leave for a few days and enjoy the pattern that arrives...her idea...

Do you ever wonder where they get their great ideas?

Finally, a spot of cleaning...'Zen and the Art of Fireplace Maintenance'...

cleaning as meditation, time to practice quality in our tasks and to admire beauty - where you may not expect it...

My creative space today...thinking about creating...waffling...

Hello all happy readers
today my creative space is about Moving Forward... and setting myself up to start some new creativity flows...

For such a long time now I have had an inner yearning to paint, with bright and colourful  paints - onto canvas.  I am also yearning to sculpt and do weaving with plant elements.  Goodness me where to start???

After joining the sisterhood of mother's and talking with many mums I have noticed the desire/need to create and attraction to colour often shows itself after having a baby.  Prior to baby it was lots of black, and white (in fact B&W photography was one of my all time loves) however post baby - the world of colour has flowered. 

Through reading many, many handmade (and WAHMs) blogs I have observed the inspirations that many, many women attest to started or was 'kick-started'...after the birth process, or through being inspired by their children...Whilst our inspiration wells up from many places,  it appears our inspiration may be strongly influenced by/after the birth process....I would *love* to read your thoughts and personal experience of this....I always enjoy a bit of philosophising ...

So, back to my first issue....Today, I would love to ask you - all you wonderful artists of blogs I have so much enjoyed reading/looking through over the last year -

"What is your 'Top Tip's' for someone like me, on the threshold of 'creative expression' who has never picked up a paint brush (other then the house-painitng variety!) to put to canvas before, how do I -well- actually get started? 

What do I want to paint? Abstract I guess, what comes from within and where I am led...(and what do I do with all those used canvases???)

My Creative Space today...Retro Reminiscing

You know how sometimes you just find a piece of fabric that inspires you.  Well I found this little beauty and saw one of my skirts in it...I wanted to bring it to life...I *love* that feeling of inspiration/creativity that wells up inside: )  I know it's different for everyone, and not everyone will feel the same yet we can but follow our heart and hope to meet some folk who share it upon the way...(a bit poetic today ;))

I am going to have fun spinning a lil creation out of this retro style fabric...love these two big brown buttons to complete a bit of retro flavour...

My Creative Space today...

I have been working on a toile for a new skirt, very excited ...
I made it out of calico first for the prototype, then was off down the hill to the pattern maker for some clarification...Looking forward to doing up the second run soon:)

What else has sprung forth from my 'Creative Space' recently?

I am loving these Easy-wear skirts for busy Mamma's.  

And these little shorts were finished very recently :) Love the Japanese fabric.
